BE FAQs

Can I keep my old router?
Yes, you can. However, you will need to check that it is ADSL2+ compatible and BE cannot guarantee support or troubleshooting for any third-party devices.

Do I need to configure my BE Box?
There should be no need to if you subscribe with a dynamic IP address; you can just plug it in and go. Sometimes, a static IP address will demand configuration, in which case a guide is provided to instruct you.

Do I need a BT line?
You will need to either have an active BT line or a new line rental from BE. Alternative company phone lines are not compatible with BE services.
Line rental is available for only £10 a month.

How long does it take to connect?
Connecting to the BE network can take as little as 1 week, providing that an engineer is available in your area to make the installation.

What is the connection process?
If you already have an active BT landline on your premises then there is no need for an engineer to visit you. A welcome pack and guide will arrive which will explain everything, although the wireless modem is usually ready to use just by plugging it in.

If you are in need of a new line, BE can provide this alongside your broadband, or you will have to make separate arrangements to have a BT engineer install it for you.

Does unlimited usage really mean unlimited?
BE customers are subject to a fair use policy, so you will receive unlimited usage allowances unless you are found to be downloading illegal materials or using the Internet abusively.
