Europes Largest Free Wi Fi Zone to be created in Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea
In an initiative to provide better broadband access to population residing in Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea, O2, Westminster City Council and the Royal Borough of Kensington have decided to offer free Wi-Fi by setting up the largest free wireless hub in entire Europe. This Wi-Fi service will be made available to visitors of this area as well.
With the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games and Diamond Jubilee celebrations scheduled this year, it becomes essential to offer better communication services across these areas. This free Wi-Fi service is offered for free and will not cause any burden to the councils or the tax payers. On the overall, it is very much likely to enhance business prospects for better communication channels are on the offer at no extra cost.
In the initial stages, the roll out will be undertaken in selected areas and then expand extensively to cover all the areas of Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea. This will happen once the installation of Metro wireless network on the street furniture is complete. O2 has brought about this initiative with a fore sight of offering faster and cheaper Wi-Fi access through partnership with strategic partners.

O2 offers £5 discounts for existing customers. So The Basics package starts at just £8, The All Rounder at £12 and The Works costs from just £20 a month. Non o2 customers have to pay £25 connection fee when they sign-up. They have to pay both charges for 30-day contract.
Basic Features of the 30 day-contract plan includes Home Phone, unlimited downloads, Up to 20meg speed, Up to 2.5meg, McAfee security software, Wireless box, Free 24/7 UK technical support. These features vary according to the Packages O2 offers – The Basics, The All Rounder and The Works.
The 30-day flexible contract is available for Broadband only, Broadband and Phone Packages as well as you can add any Home Phone Packages which best suits you.
More with these customers on all three packages will be able to get the first three months free, and prices will start from around £8 for the basics package for O2 customers thereafter.
