Europes Largest Free Wi Fi Zone to be created in Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea

In an initiative to provide better broadband access to population residing in Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea, O2, Westminster City Council and the Royal Borough of Kensington have decided to offer free Wi-Fi by setting up the largest free wireless hub in entire Europe.  This Wi-Fi service will be made available to visitors of this area as well.

With the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games and Diamond Jubilee celebrations scheduled this year, it becomes essential to offer better communication services across these areas.  This free Wi-Fi service is offered for free and will not cause any burden to the councils or the tax payers.  On the overall, it is very much likely to enhance business prospects for better communication channels are on the offer at no extra cost.

In the initial stages, the roll out will be undertaken in selected areas and then expand extensively to cover all the areas of Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea. This will happen once the installation of Metro wireless network on the street furniture is complete. O2 has brought about this initiative with a fore sight of offering faster and cheaper Wi-Fi access through partnership with strategic partners.

With Westminster being a popular tourist destination for it caters to almost million tourists each single day apart from enjoying a population of 250,000 residents, one can easily imagine the requirement of broadband services during the Olympic and in general on the overall for most of them will be interacting through social network sites and posting regular updates on the Olympic games.

The task of setting up the largest Wi-Fi hub in Europe is the first of its kind for O2 as well considering it is an £500m annual network investment programme. Through this venture, O2 wishes to offer best possible Wi-Fi services which are most required by its customers and users.

Jersey to receive Superfast 4G Mobile Broadband Soon

Within a year Jersey will be ready to witness a drastic change in its mobile broadband speed. The first 4G mobile broadband service will soon be introduced in the region which will offer speed of upto 50Mb. Clear Mobitel is making this possible.

With the broadband speed nearing 50 Mb people in Jersey will be able to enjoy Internet like never before. Downloading files, watching videos, live TV etc would happen at lightning fast speed. The Internet provider plans to make the nearly 50Mb broadband speed possible with the help of Long Term Evolution(LTE) technology. The process will begin by autumn in Jersey to achieve the 4G mobile broadband speed of 50Mb.

Jersey residents as well as Clear Mobitel are considering this change as a great opportunity, which will help in economic growth of the region. It will create more job opportunities and will make available high speed Internet to people.

With the entry of Fourth Generation mobile broadband, Internet surfers will be able to enjoy rich content in terms of quality and quantity without waiting for hours to download them. There have been speed problems with the 3G technology, which has lead to the 4G invention. A 3G network has the capacity to delivers speed of 1 to 2 Mbps whereas 4G gives up to 12 Mbps speed. This clearly proves why 4G technology needs to be adopted.

Jersey will be the first in UK to receive mobile broadband speed of up to 50Mb with the help of 4G technology.
