Recent surveys suggest that the demand for fibre-optic broadband services in UK seems to rising at an astronomical level and the government needs to develop infrastructure that will meet these demands and make the service available to all consumers in UK.

The advanced technology has swept the UK market like a tidal wave with increasing competition and constant development of latest technological gadgets. But the survey further expounds that this technology is being accessed by only economically viable areas while rural areas especially seem to lagging behind.

Mr Dawson and industry official stated that government intervention was vital for rural broadband development to start taking place. According to him force is unnecessary but a ‘solid, well-funded plan’ could work wonders towards reducing this disparity. He further stated that most countries that seem to be adopting a government-private joint venture to be reaping benefits of this technology while in UK the primarily urban broadband UK rollout is creating a two-tier system, where most areas of the country are left behind.

BT broadband has taken the initiative to start complete UK rollout but is still mainly focused on areas that are already partaking of their services. According to Mr. Dawson, positive and immediate initiative needs to be taken by the government with a well-funded operation focusing exclusively on rural the front.
