AOL Broadband Packages

AOL used to stand for America Online, but they are now simply known as AOL.  While this is a global company that began life in America, they also offer services in the UK.  For example you can elect to take your broadband from them if you wish.

But AOL Broadband may not be something you are very familiar with.  It is certainly not one of the most familiar companies in the UK in this department.  Let’s find out more about what they offer now.

Can you select broadband from them without opting for a phone service too?

Yes this is perfectly possible if you choose their broadband only service.  They are currently offering the first month free of charge and this is then followed by another couple of months at a discount.  It is only at the fourth month that you would start paying the full price for the service.

As with all providers however, check the current details on their website to ensure you are still able to take advantage of this deal.

Do they offer several broadband only packages to choose from?

No, they just have the one.  If you are looking for a quick and easy package to sign up for, this could be just what you need.

Even though you only get one package it is a very well rounded one.  They throw in a wireless router for free so you won’t need to worry about buying one of these when you join either.

Be aware of the limitations of the speed and usage allowance before you sign up.  This service has an 8Mb speed, which is slower than many other broadband providers.  You will also be limited to 10Mb usage allowance so this service is ideal for those who only use the internet every now and then.

You will need a BT phone line in order to take advantage of AOL Broadband too, so if you don’t currently have a line from BT you will need to get one installed.

Who would this package be most suited to?

If you are a heavy internet user you may find this package is too simple and restrained for your needs.  However if you only use the internet periodically it could be just what you need.

They have an eighteen month contract in place at the present time so it might be worth doing your homework when it comes to the speed and usage allowances.  You want to be sure this is the right service for you.

AOL does offer other options as well though, and these come with phone services and line rental built into the package too.  If the broadband only service does not appeal to you, you might find this could be the better option.  It all depends on what you are looking for and what you want to get out of your broadband connection.
