Do you really know how fast your broadband speeds are?
Virgin Media work honestly and provide their customer with the truth on how fast their internet speeds really are. Many retailers advertise super fast broadband but you never really know what they means when it comes to actually downloading information from the internet. You could be paying for fast broadband but receive slow connection or download speeds.
If you purchase any of the broadband packages, Virgin will advertise a rate of download speed that will vary depending on what package that you purchase. However they will tell you exactly what that will get you in terms of how fast the speed is. Many organisations advertise “up to” a certain download speed and it may not be anywhere near as fast as you think it is, but Virgin Media display precisely how fast the download speeds are.
So if you purchase a package that contains up to 10Mb download speeds then you will be receiving typically 9.51 speeds on the average of 24 hours. The next step up would be the large package for 10Mb which would get you 9.69Mb speeds. The extra large package of 20Mb would get you around 19.15Mb averagely over 24 hours, with the 30Mb package you would receive 30.52Mb download speeds. The next upgrade would be the 50Mb and you could receive 49.77Mb over a 24 hour period. Finally the top and largest package which is the 10Mb you would receive 91.80Mb download speeds.
Virgin media advertise these speeds on a typical rating in which 66% of their customers would receive on a monthly basis over a 24 hour period. It can vary during peak time as many more people are accessing the internet. The reason Virgin uses the phrase up to is because the speeds can change depending on certain aspects, some of which are out of their control. This could be a certain website that you are using as many people could be on the same website at the same time, therefore making the download speed slower or even the specification of the computer you are using, as older models can be slower.
Virgin media are honest about what they are offering you because they try to give you as close to the download speed as possible. Where as some companies could advertise the top speed and you may receive a speed that is nowhere near as close to what they advertise.
